Sharmila Tagore

Sharmila Tagore was born in a Bengali family in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India on 8 December 1946. Sharmila Tagore was married to Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Nawab of Pataudi and has three children Saba Ali Khan, the very famous Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan.

Sharmila Tagore has lead the Indian Film Censor Board and in December 2005 the charming lady was chosen as an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador too. Sharmila Tagore began her career as an actress in 1959 with Satyajit Ray film Apur Sansar (The World of Apu). Sharmila Tagore appeared in a number of Ray films, often co-starring with Soumitra Chatterjee.

The actress established herself as a popular Hindi film actress with Shakti Samanta's Kashmir Ki Kali in 1964. Since then she was casted in many more hits of Shakti Samanta such as An Evening in Paris (1967), Aradhana (1969) and Amar Prem (1972).

Other directors paired Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore together in Daag (1973), Maalik (1972) and Safar (1970). Sharmila even starred in Gulzar's 1975 film, Mausam, and played a supporting role in Mira Nair's 1991 film Mississippi Masala. In 2007 Sharmila Tagore was honoured with thw Lifetime Achievement National Award.

She also acted in Amol Palekar's Marathi flick Samaantar. She was also seen in Vidhu Vinod Chopra film, Eklavya: The Royal Guard. Sharmila Tagore has won several National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards for her performances. Just to brief out have a look at the list-
